This interesting measure comes alongside other changes including clearing a backlog of over 50,000 pending promotions and founding what they're calling a "world-class Fire Academy" to match the one in Arizona. Development proceeds, or so they claim.
In my study of bureaucracies come up with schemes to benefit their members, but this endless compensation system takes the cake. One must wonder: Why not extend such magnanimity to each civil servant? Even more appropriately, to the common citizens whose money pays these salaries?
The contrast with other government employees remains plain as day. Many a police retiree still bide their time for retirement funds that amount to a pittance.
